Alzheimer’s Group Commits $46-Million to Drug Research

The British charity Alzheimer’s Research UK announced plans for a $46.3-million alliance with major universities to step up development of new treatments for Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, the BBC and Cambridge News report.
The money will be used to launch Drug Discovery Institutes at the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, and University College London and to support 90 research scientists working to fight the effects of dementia. The United Kingdom last licensed a dementia treatment 12 years ago.
