American Film Institute Appoints Senior Vice President of Advancement; More Personnel Moves

American Film Institute (Los Angeles): Appointed Tom West, former vice president of development at the Orange County Performing Arts Center (now called the Segerstrom Center for the Arts) (Costa Mesa, Calif.), to be senior vice president of advancement.

American Transplant Foundation (Denver): Appointed Anastasia Darwish, director of major gifts at American Red Cross Mile High Chapter (Denver), to be executive director. She succeeds Heidi Heltzel, who has resigned.

Atlas Performing Arts Center (Washington): Appointed Sam Sweet, interim executive director of the center and former chief operating officer at the Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art and Design (Washington), to be executive director.

California State U.-Dominguez Hills (Carson): Appointed Alexandra Jordan, development coordinator at California State U. at Long Beach, to be director of development.

California STEM Learning Network (Sacramento): Appointed Christopher Roe, deputy director of the Business-Higher Education Forum (Washington), to be chief executive officer. This group works to improve the quality and accessibility of science, engineering, technology, and mathematics education in the state.


Chimes International (Baltimore): Appointed Robert H. Imhoff III, vice president for development and external relations at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital (Baltimore), to be chief development and external relations officer of this group that helps mentally ill and disabled people.

Common Sense Media (San Francisco): Appointed Amy Guggenheim Shenkan, senior expert and global knowledge director for digital marketing and sales at McKinsey & Company (New York), to be president and chief operating officer. This organization provides advice and media reviews for families.

Connected Nation (Bowling Green, Ky.): Appointed John Hamm, chief financial officer at Tatum LLC (Nashville), to be chief financial officer for this group that work to improve access to broadband Internet.

Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland: Appointed Suzanne K. Johnson, research coordinator, to be chief operating officer.

Diabetes Research Institute (Hollywood, Fla.): Appointed Bernadette Toomey, former president and chief executive officer of the American Lung Association (Washington), to be director of the Northeast region, based in New York and overseeing fund raising in New York City, Westchester County, New Jersey, Connecticut, and other Northeast states.


Gardner-Webb U. (Boiling Springs, N.C.): Appointed Monte Walker, director of donor ministries at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (Charlotte, N.C.), to be vice president for development.

Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (Geneva): Appointed Seth Berkley, founder and chief executive officer of International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (New York), to be chief executive officer.

Judson College (Marion, Ala.): Appointed Terry Smith Morgan, grant writer at Baptist U. of the Americas (San Antonio), to be vice president for advancement.

La Vida (Lynn, Mass.): Appointed Frank DeVito, founder and chief executive officer of the Fenix Center for Innovative Schools (Lynn), to be executive director. La Vida provides college preparation, English classes, consular assistance, and other services to Latino youths and adults.

Lewis-Clark State College (Lewiston, Idaho): Appointed Mary Hasenoehrl, director of development for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at U. of Idaho (Moscow), to be director of advancement.


Management Assistance Group (Washington): Appointed Robin Katcher, deputy director, to be managing director. She succeeds Inca A. Mohamed, who will become an associate consultant. This nonprofit consulting firm focuses on social-justice groups.
Maryville U. of Saint Louis: Appointed David A. Bruns, director of development for the School of Medicine at Washington U. in St. Louis, to be executive director for alumni and development programs.

Mazon: A Jewish Response (Los Angeles): Appointed Abby J. Leibman, co-founder and former director of the California Women’s Law Center (Los Angeles), to be president and chief executive officer.

Mercy (St. Louis): Appointed Patty Arnold, president of St. John’s Mercy Foundation (St. Louis), to be vice president of philanthropy for this health system.

Mount Mary College (Milwaukee): Appointed Cynthia Echols, senior director of external relations and campaign manager, to be senior director of development.

Northeastern State U. (Tahlequah, Okla.): Appointed Peggy Glenn-Summitt, director of programs at the Senior Source (Dallas), to be director of development for the university and executive director of the Northeastern State U. Foundation.

San Francisco Art Institute: Appointed Lee Scott Theisen, associate vice president for development at the California State Parks Foundation (San Francisco), to be vice president for development and alumni relations.

Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (New York): Appointed Ellen Haddigan, executive director of Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation (New York), to be executive director. The society provides volunteers for the cancer center.

St. Petersburg College Foundation (Fla.): Appointed Frances Neu, former vice president for development at Junior Achievement Worldwide (Colorado Springs), to be executive director and vice president for institutional advancement for the college.

Tim Tebow Foundation (Jacksonville, Fla.): Appointed Erik Dellenback, vice president and chief marketing officer at the Gator Bowl Association (Jacksonville), to be executive director. This group raises money for organizations that improve the lives of people in need.


U. of Hawaii Foundation (Honolulu): Appointed Unyong Nakata, associate director of development for the university’s Shidler College of Business, to be director of development for the college.

Boston Foundation: Appointed Edward M. Powell, deputy director at the Boston Private Industry Council, to be executive director of its StreetSafe Boston program, which helps youths living in violent neighborhoods, and F. Javier Torres, director of the Villa Victoria Center for the Arts (Boston), to be senior program officer for arts and culture.

College Access Foundation (San Francisco): Appointed Jacqueline Khor, a managing director at Imprint Capital Advisors (San Francisco), to be vice president for programs.

John S. and James L. Knight Foundation (Miami): Appointed Rishi S. Jaitly, founder and chief executive officer of Michigan Corps (Detroit), to be a program director, based in Detroit, and Michael Maness, vice president of innovation and design at Gannett (McLean, Va.), to be vice president of the journalism and media-innovation program. Mr. Maness succeeds Eric Newton, who is now senior adviser to the foundation’s president.


McKnight Foundation (Minneapolis): Appointed Shaina Briscoe, associate specialist at Target Corporation (Minneapolis), to be grants administration associate, and Becky Monnens, a program associate, to be international program officer.

Richland County Foundation (Mansfield, Ohio): Appointed Bradford (Brady) Groves, manager of MedCentral Health and Fitness Center (Mansfield), to be president. He succeeds Pamela H. Siegenthaler, who has retired.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (Princeton, N.J.): Appointed Robert Graham, a professor at the U. of Cincinnati College of Medicine, to be national program director of Aligning Forces for Quality, which seeks to improve the quality of health care across the country, and Kate Sullivan Hare, principal of Health Policy Insight & Strategy (Washington), to be director of policy outreach and public affairs.

Rockefeller Brothers Fund (New York): Appointed Naomi Jackson, program associate for its Democratic Practice and New York City programs, to be program officer of the New York City program.

Rose Community Foundation (Denver): Appointed Sue Cobb, communications director and legislative liaison for the City of Denver’s Department of Community Planning and Development, to be director of communications and marketing.


Universal Orlando Resort (Fla.): Appointed Diane Young, executive director of the Universal Orlando Foundation, to be vice president of community relations.
