AMERICAN RED CROSS

February 24, 2006

The American Red Cross has announced that it will commission an outside audit to evaluate its operations and find ways to improve them, reports the Associated Press. The audit follows a wave of public criticism regarding the charity’s disaster response, including a recent Congressional report that identified shortcomings in its distribution of hurricane aid. The organization has also lost two chief executives in the last four years, with Marsha J. Evans stepping down from her post as president in December.
