AMERICA’S SECOND HARVEST

America’s Second Harvest served meals to more than 25 million people in 2005, according to surveys conducted last summer, reports the Associated Press. The report shows a 9-percent jump from 2001 and include 9 million children and 3 million older Americans. The surveys also indicated that after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita hit the Gulf Coast in August, demand for emergency meals tripled in that area.
