Aquarium Sale May Lead to Research Center
May 9, 2006
A businessman who bought the Aquarium of the Bay at Pier 39, in San Francisco, may sell it in two years to a nonprofit group interested in turning it into a center for education and research, reports The San Francisco Chronicle.
Darius Anderson, who is involved in the development of Treasure Island, bought the 65,000-square-foot aquarium from a French company. The deal includes a plan for the Bay Institute to buy the aquarium for a set price if the group can raise the money, the paper reports.
