ARRESTS IN DEATHS OF RELIEF WORKERS

February 28, 2006

Nine people have been arrested in connection with the 2004 murders in Afghanistan of three European and two Afghan aid workers with Medecins Sans Frontieres, reports the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The five aid workers were killed when grenades and gunfire struck their vehicle in an apparently targeted attack in Badghis, on the Iranian border. Following the incident, the charity left Afghanistan after 25 years of work.
