The following awards have been presented for work in philanthropy, volunteerism, and non-profit management:

Management. The Alliance for Nonprofit Management (Washington) has presented the Terry McAdam Book Award for the best book about non-profit management to Jo Ann Hankin, Alan Seidner, and John Zietlow for Financial Management for Nonprofit Organizations (John Wiley & Sons). The award carries a $300 stipend supported by the New York Community Trust.

Philanthropy. The National Society of Fund Raising Executives (Alexandria, Va.) has presented its 2000 Outstanding Foundation Award to ExxonMobil Foundation (Irving, Tex.), formerly the Exxon Education Foundation. The award recognizes commitment to philanthropy through financial support and the encouragement of others to take part in philanthropic efforts. Through financial support, matching gift programs, and program implementation, the foundation has endeavored to improve science and mathematics education from kindergarten through undergraduate studies.

Volunteerism. The National Association of Counties (Washington) has presented the Children’s Assessment Center (Houston) with the Acts of Caring Award and the Legacy Award for Excellence and Innovation. The Acts of Caring Award honors organizations whose volunteers work with county governments to provide services that enhance or preserve the quality of life in their community. The Legacy Award is for a volunteer group that has distinguished itself through its high-quality services. CAC has more than 150 volunteers who work with sexually abused children in Harris County, Tex.
