Baltimore Symphony Hires New CEO

September 7, 2006 | Read Time: 1 minute

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra has announced that Paul Meecham, former executive director of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, will take over as president and chief executive officer early next month, reports The Sun.

Mr. Meecham, who was general manager of the New York Philharmonic and the San Francisco Symphony before working at the Seattle Symphony, resigned his post in Seattle in June after two and a half years, declining comment.

James Glicker, the last head of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, abruptly resigned in January. Part of Mr. Meecham’s job will be to try to resolve the Baltimore organization’s financial problems, which include a deficit estimated at around $3-million.
