BIG HOSPITAL GIFT
January 27, 2006
The University of Chicago announced on Wednesday that it had received a $42-million pledge to help expand its children’s hospital, reports the Chicago Tribune. The donation made by Gary Comer, founder of Lands’ End, and his wife, Frances, will create a four-story building that will serve children who require advanced care for cancer, heart disease, and other illnesses. The hospital will receive half the pledge this year, followed by $2-million a year over the next decade.
