Bits: Charitableway.com to Buy Charitygift; and List on Charity Business Ventures

- Charitableway.com (http://www.charitableway.com), a San Carlos, Calif., company that helps other companies put their employee-giving programs online, has signed an agreement to buy Charitygift (http://www.charitygift.com). Charitygift, which under the terms of the deal will maintain its offices in Austin, Tex., sells charitable-donation gift certificates that recipients can contribute to the non-profit organizations of their choice.
- Nonprofit_entrepreneurship is a new e-mail discussion list on business ventures started by non-profit organizations. Topics of discussion will include how to measure whether a charity is ready to start a business, identify business opportunities, and develop a business plan, as well as the risks and benefits of starting a for-profit venture. The list is maintained by Andrew Horsnell, co-founder of Authenticity Consulting, a management-consulting company in Minneapolis.
