All six candidates for governor of Minnesota have agreed to participate in an online debate sponsored by the Blandin Foundation, in Grand Rapids, Minn., and E-Democracy.org, a nonprofit organization in Minneapolis that uses technology to try to increase civic engagement. George Hotelling has won the first Antonio Pizzigati Prize for Software in the Public Interest for his work on CitizenSpeak, a free service that grass-roots organizations can use to send advocacy e-mail messages.
