Bits: Microsoft Donates to the National Fund for Workforce Solutions

  • The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is holding a workshop entitled “Amassing a Grass-Roots Army to Engage in Election 2008″ in Washington on June 17.   • Microsoft, in Redmond, Wash., has made a donation of $2-million in cash and $8-million in software to the National Fund for Workforce Solutions, an effort by foundations and the Department of Labor to train 50,000 low-income people for skilled jobs. The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, in Miami, has contributed $1.4-million, which will be used for online learning and other efforts.
