Bits: Resources on Advocacy, Educational Technology, and Using Broadcasting and the Internet for the Public Good

  • The Benton Foundation has published a packet of resources, Public Media in the Digital Age, that discusses how communities are using public broadcasting, cable-access channels, and online community networks to strengthen education, social services, health care, and civic participation.   • Just Add Consciousness: A Guide to Social Activism, an advocacy manual for young people, is now available online. Written by activists from Bread for the World, Campus Outreach Opportunity League, and Oxfam America, it offers advice on how to organize letter-writing and phone campaigns, plan demonstrations and teach-ins, meet with elected officials, and use the Internet for advocacy work.   • NetDayCompass is a new Web site for elementary and secondary educators that features links to Web sites that provide information on technology planning, building technology infrastructure, grant seeking, and integrating technology into school curricula.
