Black Lives Matter Wins ‘Fast Company’ Kudos for Innovation

February 17, 2016 | Read Time: 1 minute

Black Lives Matter, the online protest movement that coalesced into a national set of organizations fighting for racial justice, was named the most innovative nonprofit of 2015 by Fast Company. The business magazine credited Black Lives Matter — which ranked ninth overall in its roster the year’s 50 most innovative companies, with “empowering the marginalized to fight for their own justice.”

Anti-poverty group Sama, which connects people in developing countries with work opportunities via the Internet, and health-care crowdfunding site Watsi ranked second and third in the magazine’s nonprofit honor roll.
