July 30, 2015 | Read Time: 1 minute

Aerospace giant Boeing said Wednesday that it will donate $20 million to the Kennedy Center’s planned $100 million expansion, reports The Washington Post. Officials at the Washington, D.C., performing-arts venue expect construction to start this fall on the project, which will add 60,000 square feet of rehearsal, classroom, performance, and event space and transform the Kennedy Center grounds.

W. James McNerney Jr., Boeing’s chairman, joined the Kennedy Center board in May. He revealed the gift at a question-and-answer session at the Economic Club of Washington with Kennedy Center Board Chairman David M. Rubenstein, who has donated $50 million for the expansion.
