Boston Cancer Center Sets $1-Billion Goal
January 31, 2007
The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, in Boston, will announce today a $1-billion capital campaign for new facilities and research into the causes and treatments of cancer, reports The Boston Globe.
A small amount of the money—$150-million—is slated for a new 13-floor cancer-care center, and the rest will support new equipment, patient care, and research. Dana-Farber says that it has already raised $544-million duing the quiet phase of its campaign. The institution hopes to raise the remainder by 2010.
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, in New York, is currently running a $2-billion campaign.
