BOYS CHOIR OF HARLEM DISPUTE

January 30, 2006

The Boys Choir of Harlem faces eviction from its headquarters in a Manhattan public school due to a dispute with New York City’s Department of Education, reports the Los Angeles Times. In recent years, the nonprofit choir has faced multiple problems, including growing financial difficulties and allegations that one of its instructors sexually molested a student. The city has said it is unsatisfied with the group’s efforts to clean up its operations and had ordered the charity to vacate the school by Tuesday. Supporters of the choir are working with the city to resolve the dispute.
