British Workers Say They Want Payroll-Deduction Options for Giving
April 27, 2007
Oxfam says that British charities lose out on nearly $18-billion every year because people don’t understand how to donate money directly from their paychecks, reports the BBC.
In payroll giving, an amount of money is taken out of someone’s salary and paid to a charity before taxes. In a survey, Oxfam found that one in three people would like to donate to charity this way, contributing an average of $18.50 each month directly from their paychecks.
