Buffett Loses in Charity Poker Match
December 11, 2006
The investor and philanthropist Warren Buffett, an avid bridge player, went broke in a charity poker tournament in Nebraska that benefited that state’s Make-a-Wish affiliate, reports the Associated Press.
Mr. Buffett, chairman and chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway, competed alongside 50 others in a Texas Hold’em tournament celebrating a $5-million renovation of Borsheims, a retail subsidiary of his company.
“It’s different than bridge,” Mr. Buffett, 76, told the news agency. “I was confused. I thought the low score won.”
