Tufts University has received $40-million from Jonathan Tisch, co-chairman of the Loews Corporation, reports The Wall Street Journal.
The money will support the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service at the university, in Medford, Mass. The public-service school opened in 2000 with a gift of $10-million from the founder of eBay, Pierre Omidyar, and his wife, Pam, who also donated $100-million in stock to the university last year.
In an unusual twist for such big donations, Mr. Tisch plans to provide the entire sum to the university in one payment to be made by the end of June, the Journal reports. (A paid subscription is required to view this article.)
