A Washington, D.C., business titan has donated $20-million to the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank, The Washington Post and The New York Times report.
The gift from Daniel A. D’Aniello, co-founder and chairman of private-equity firm the Carlyle Group, will be officially announced Tuesday. The institute, commonly called AEI, will name its new Washington headquarters for Mr. D’Aniello, who is vice chairman of AEI’s board and a longtime associate of AEI President Arthur Brooks.
The donation will help AEI, which had revenues of $44.4-million last year, continue a rapid expansion of its staff and build meeting, education, and broadcasting facilities aimed at raising its profile and increasing its influence.
