Catholic Donor Raises Concerns About Hands-On Philanthropy

Recent troubles involving the philanthropy of Thomas S. Monaghan, founder of Domino’s Pizza, show the challenges wealthy, focused entrepreneurs can face when becoming major donors, reports The New York Times.
Through his Ave Maria Foundation, in Ann Arbor, Mich., Mr. Monaghan has donated $140-million to Catholic causes, including establishing several educational institutions. But faculty members, students, and parents connected to his schools complain that he starts and abandons charitable projects on a whim.
