Charities Compete in Giving Challenge

October 15, 2009 | Read Time: 1 minute

The Case Foundation is sponsoring the second annual America’s Giving Challenge to encourage people to use their online networks to raise money for charity.

From now until November 6, participants — either individuals or nonprofit groups themselves — will compete to see who can attract the largest number of donations using the Causes application on Facebook.

The Case Foundation and the Aspen Institute’s Program on Philanthropy and Social Innovations, which put up $20,000 in prize money, will award a total of $170,000 in daily and overall cash prizes that range between $500 and $50,000.

During the inaugural competition in 2008, 71,000 donors contributed more than $1.8-million to nearly 700 nonprofit organizations.
