CHARITY LAWSUIT

January 3, 2006

The former chief financial officer of the United Way of Allegheny County has sued the charity and its chief executive officer, alleging that he was fired because of racial discrimination, reports the Beaver County Allegheny Times. James R. Overton, who is black, said he was fired in January on the grounds of poor job performance, even though he had received no prior complaints about his work. William Meyer, the organization’s chief executive, was not available for comment.
