The filmmaker Robert Greenwald has helped the Sierra Club and the American Civil Liberties Union create their own cable-television series, reports The New York Times. “The Sierra Club Chronicles,” a monthly series of seven half-hour episodes, and “The ACLU Freedom Files,” a series of 10 30-minute episodes, feature real-life stories on such issues as environmental protection, gay rights, and racial profiling. Mr. Greenwald, the producer and director of the documentaries “Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch’s War on Journalism” and “Wal-Mart: the High Cost of Low Price,” and others say that the programs are a new way for liberal groups to get their messages out to the public and counter conservative voices in the news and entertainment media. However, opponents of the shows criticize the series, saying that they present biased information.
