A Seattle charity has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of video games and equipment to the Seattle Children’s Hospital, providing comfort for patients, reports The New York Times.
The charity, Child’s Play, is run by two “gamers” through their video-game Web site, Penny Arcade. In addition to distributing donated equipment and games, the organization holds a yearly auction, which in 2006 netted $210,000. Since its founding in 1998, the charity has raised $2-million for children worldwide.
The Seattle hospital now has a video-game console in every room, and the gifts help children cope with painful therapy and treatments, said a hospital official.
