CHARITY WATCHDOG CEO RESIGNS
January 20, 2006
Geraldine Peacock, chairman of the Charity Commission for England and Wales, in London, announced on Tuesday that she would resign from her post later this year, reports The Guardian. Ms. Peacock says her decision is based on a combination of factors, including her engagement to a Canadian citizen, her treatment for Parkinson’s disease, and the slow progress in seeing a charities bill pass. The bill is due to be debated in the House of Commons sometime this year, having already been passed by the House of Lords.
