CHARITY’S ASSETS FROZEN

February 8, 2006

The Bush administration has frozen the assets of a British charity it accuses of funneling money to an Al Qaeda affiliate that has carried out attacks in Libya, reports the Associated Press. The order means that all U.S. banks with accounts held by Sanabel Relief Agency Limited may not do business with the group. The charity, which describes itself as a service provider to the poor and sick, did not comment to the newspaper on the government’s action.
