What she is doing now: This summer Ms. Walker started working part-time at two charities where she had volunteered as a college student.
Long-term plan: Hopes to get a graduate degree in public affairs so she can move to an executive role at a nonprofit organization
On getting laid off: “It was a wake-up call,” she says. “The work force wasn’t as awesome as I thought it was on graduation day.”
