Cities Grow Tired of Walkathons

Walkathons, bikeathons, and marathons have exploded in popularity in recent years as a way to raise money for charitable causes, but some cities and towns are upset by the traffic and other inconveniences they cause, reports The Wall Street Journal. Some nonprofit groups are responding by limiting the number of events they hold or even holding online events instead, while cities like Chicago, New York, and San Francisco are restricting where the events are held or charging more for permits.
