The philanthropic arm of banking giant Citigroup will contribute $50-million to back employment initiatives for young people in 10 cities, reports the Associated Press.
The Citi Foundation will launch the three-year “Pathways to Progress” effort in June, partnering with mayors and nonprofit groups to provide job training for teens, create summer employment opportunities, and promote entrepreneurship among young adults.
The program will be active in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Miami, Dallas, St. Louis, Washington, and Newark, N.J. Along with the job initiatives, the foundation will team with volunteer group Points of Light to develop AmeriCorps programs enlisting teenagers in those cities in community service and charity work.
