Cleft-Palate Groups Call Off Merger

Smile Train and Operation Smile, two groups that work to repair cleft palates and lips of children in impoverished countries, have canceled their plans to merge, writes The New York Times. The merger was first announced in February, but since then donors who have given almost $8-million in the past signed an online petition opposing the merger.
