Clintons Hit $200-Million in Endowment Drive for Foundation

June 6, 2014 | Read Time: 1 minute

Ten months into an effort to to build an endowment for their namesake foundation, Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton have raised four-fifths of their $250-million target, Bloomberg reports.

The endowment drive’s success positions the global philanthropy to maintain a stable financial house even if Hillary Clinton mounts a 2016 presidential run, which would divert her and Bill Clinton’s fundraising prowess from the foundation to the political campaign, according to the news agency.

While prior appeals targeted donors who could give at least $1-million, the endowment effort’s homestretch will focus on smaller contributors. A foundation official said endowment supporters will be listed alongside other financial backers in the charity’s annual public disclosures.
