Coin-Collection Meters for Charity Unveiled
November 15, 2006
New coin-collection units designed to look like parking meters debuted in Baltimore today as a way for people to donate their change to charity, reports The Baltimore Sun. City officials hope the units will also combat panhandling,
“The idea here is to educate the public that it’s OK to give but we just want you to give where you’re helping to make a change,” said Tom Yeager, an executive vice president at Downtown Partnership, which is sponsoring the program.
Baltimore Homeless Services will receive all of the funds collected.
