Colorado Encourages Tax-Refund Donations
April 13, 2006
Colorado taxpayers are expected to donate a total $1.5-million from their tax refunds to the 13 charities that are listed on the state’s income-tax forms this fiscal year, reports the Denver Post.
The estimate is based on past giving trends, in which Colorado residents typically donate less than 1 percent of their tax refunds. The state was the first to include charitable donations on its tax form in 1977.
Top causes that received money last year included endangered wildlife, domestic violence, and Special Olympics Colorado.
