March 31, 2006
U.S. corporations that work to improve health, education, and living conditions in other countries are beginning to see long-term business benefits from such projects, the Associated Press reports. Through such programs, companies have been able to improve their image with consumers overseas and at home, and improve employee morale and recruiting.
According to the Business Civic Leadership Center for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, U.S. corporate donations abroad have increased in the last several years, and included more than $566-million in for tsunami relief, the center said.
