Several major nonprofit institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and New York University, stand to receive large donations after the death of Brooke Astor, the ailing 105-year-old New York philanthropist worth $190-million, reports The New York Times.
But charitable organizations would have received a bigger share of Mrs. Astor’s fortune under an earlier version of the will, The New York Times reports.
It is likely that the current version will be challenged due to controversy about whether Mrs. Astor was competent to understand amendments made to her will in recent years.
