CVS and Aetna Give $50 Million for Affordable Housing (Grants Roundup)

Here are notable new grant awards compiled by the Chronicle:
Aetna and CVS Health
$50 million through their Destination: Health program to build or renovate more than 1,600 units of affordable housing in 19 communities this year.
St. Baldrick’s Foundation
$17.5 million to 55 researchers at 35 institutions that are developing new ways to treat pediatric cancer.
Arnold Ventures
$9.8 million to the RAND Corporation for 17 research projects that will study gun violence, particularly as it relates to domestic violence, suicide, and police shootings.
Ruth Carol Fund
$5 million to the Baltimore Museum of Art to create a center dedicated to Henri Matisse. The museum’s collection contains more than 1,200 works by this French artist.
Houston Endowment
$2 million to the Rothko Chapel to renovate the chapel, which displays 14 paintings by Mark Rothko.
Salesforce
$1.8 million to Year Up, Genesys Works, Enterprise for Youth, and Futures and Options to create paid internships and other opportunities for meaningful work for young people.
Rebuild Texas Fund
$1.1 million to the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation and Enterprise Community Partners for the Housing and Economic Assistance to Rebuild Texas Program, which provides follow-up support for people whose homes were damaged during Hurricane Harvey in 2017.
Bernard Osher Foundation
$1 million to the Ringling College of Art and Design to bolster the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, which offers continuing education programs to adults in Florida’s Sarasota and Manatee Counties.
New Grant Opportunity
The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and Microsoft are accepting proposals from cultural institutions to engage audiences with immersive technological experiences in the arts. A total of $750,000 in funding is available, as well as optional technical support from Microsoft. Proposals are due August 12.
