Megagift Backs Research and Tech Center at Cal Poly: The $110 million donation from William and Linda Frost will fund student aid, lab equipment, and faculty hiring as well as a new math and science hub at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, reports the Los Angeles Times. Mr. Frost, a Cal Poly graduate, founded chemicals producer Chemlogics.

New Calif. Attorney General to Scrutinize Political Nonprofits: “I don’t think most Americans expected that that would be the use of the not-for-profit legal status,” Xavier Becerra said in announcing plans to target tax-exempt groups that focus on electioneering, which he likened to scam charities that mislead donors, reports the Associated Press.
