Hundreds of other colleges are facing calls from students and faculty to divest in fossil-fuel companies and other polluters.
A Growing Number of Nonprofits Pay Executives $1 Million or More: About 2,700 nonprofits provided seven-figure compensation to top executives in 2014, a Wall Street Journal analysis found. Thatโs about one-third higher than in 2011, according to the Dow Jones Newswires. Calif. Nonprofit Funded Dutch Nationalist Party: The David Horowitz Freedom Center, derided as anti-Muslim by detractors, gave about $134,000 in 2014 and 2015 to a foundation that supports the nationalist Peopleโs Party for Freedom, reports the Intercept, citing Dutch records. The foundation is known to solicit funds for right-wing candidate Geert Wilder. The center did not disclose the grants, which could violate rules against nonprofit politicking.
