Bezos Family Fund Pledges $25 Million to NYC Hospital: The gift to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, formerly known as NYU Lutheran Medical Center, comes from the foundation established by Jackie and Mike Bezos, mother and stepfather of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, The Brooklyn Daily Eagle reports. It will support efforts to help mothers, children, and families in the borough.
Miami Affordable-Housing Charity in Turmoil After Newspaper Investigation: Following a Miami Herald exposé of a suspicious land deal and alleged forgeries involving Ola Aluko, president of the St. John Community Development Corporation, the nonprofit lost a major government contract and has cut ties with the leader, the paper reports. Prosecutors are investigating a shell company Mr. Aluko created to purchase land before selling it back to his employer.
