Obituary: Education Philanthropist Eugene Lang Dies at 98: The self-made businessman, who gave more than $150 million to charities and higher-education institutions, gained national renown in 1981 when he promised to pay college tuition for a Harlem school’s sixth-grade class, The New York Times writes. He subsequently founded the I Have a Dream Foundation, which has helped more than 16,000 children reach college.

Levy on University Foundations Dropped From N.Y. Budget: State lawmakers rejected Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposal for a 10 percent assessment on the nonprofit affiliates of four State University of New York campuses, Newsday reports. University presidents had said the levy would depress giving to the campus fundraising groups.

Long Island Charity Sues Over Withdrawn $1 Million Gift: The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau is asking a judge to enforce the 2007 commitment by Dena and Ellis Meyers to make the donation when one of them died, writes the New York Post. Mr. Meyers passed away in December 2014, a year after the couple revoked the pledge without telling the nonprofit, according to the lawsuit.

Terror-Linked Former Islamic Charity Ordered to Donate $800,000: A nonprofit that helps farmers and drought victims in East Africa will get assets from the Islamic American Relief Agency under a federal-court sentence, reports The Kansas City Star. The Missouri-based Muslim aid group, which the government shut down in 2004 for suspected terrorism ties, admitted last year to steering money to Iraq in violation of U.S. sanctions.

Prosecutor Says There’s No Bribe Case in Trump Charity’s Political Donation: The Florida prosecutor handling a complaint about the $25,000 campaign contribution from the Donald J. Trump Foundation to state Attorney General Pam Bondi said there was not sufficient evidence to pursue a bribery investigation, the Associated Press reports. At the time of the donation, Ms. Bondi’s office was reviewing consumer complaints about Trump University.

New Israel Museum Director Abruptly Out: Eran Neuman is leaving the top post at the Jerusalem institution less than two months after taking office on a part-time basis, writes The New York Times. Disagreements over employment terms and the continuing role at the museum of Mr. Neuman’s predecessor, James Snyder, may have contributed to the quick exit, according to the Times.
