Darfur Aid Workers Evacuate After Attacks

December 21, 2006

A coordinated attack on Gereida, a town in the southern Darfur region of Sudan, almost paralyzed aid operations and forced 71 staff members of aid groups to evacuate, reports Reuters.

The Monday night attack involved about 20 armed men who seized a dozen vehicles along with communications equipment in what Reuters reports was the biggest attack on the Darfur aid operation.
