Delaware Creates Committee to Review Charitable Giving

The Delaware General Assembly has approved plans to form a commission that will study potential tax changes and other steps the state can take to encourage individuals and companies to increase their donations to non-profit groups.
The “Delaware Gives Task Force” — which will be composed of government, corporate, charity, and community leaders — will also conduct a review of the state’s social-service needs and try to measure how well charities currently are meeting those needs.
Once formed, the commission will have until March 31, 1999, to prepare a written report of its findings and present it to the Governor and General Assembly.
