Democrats, Republicans, And Charity

A recent Give and Take item about Sen. Barack Obama’s philanthropic record has prompted quite a bit of debate among readers about whether Democrats or Republicans are better donors.

Arthur C. Brooks, a professor at Syracuse University, has studied that question and chronicled his findings in the 2006 book Who Really Cares: The Surprising Truth About Compassionate Conservatism.
