October 1, 2015 | Read Time: 1 minute

The Clinton Foundation issued a positive prognosis Wednesday for foundation President Donna Shalala’s recovery from a stroke she suffered the previous evening, The New York Times writes.

In an email, board Chairman Bruce Lindsey wrote that Ms. Shalala “has made great progress since last night and her condition continues to improve,” adding that as of Wednesday afternoon she is “in good spirits.”

Ms. Shalala, fell ill shortly after Tuesday’s closing ceremony of the Clinton Global Initiative’s New York conference and had surgery that night. The organization would not disclose where she is being treated. The former cabinet secretary and University of Miami president joined the foundation in June.
