Donor Gives Colleges Splashy Gift

April 21, 2006

Luther Blount, owner of the American Canadian Caribbean Lines, announced Thursday he will donate the Niagara Prince, a 175-foot cruise ship, to three colleges this fall, reports the Associated Press.

The philanthropist expects the colleges—Rhode Island College, in Providence; Roger Williams University, in Bristol, R.I.; and Wentworth Institute of Technology, in Boston—to sell the $6.5-million boat and split the proceeds.
