Donors in Illinois Gave $4.8-Billion

Individuals, corporations, and foundations in Illinois contributed a total of $4.8-billion to charities in 1997, according to a new study by the Donors Forum of Chicago. The state’s foundations and corporations made $917-million in charitable grants and donations, it said.
The report, “Giving in Illinois: A Comprehensive Report on the State of Philanthropy,” includes contributions by 1,933 foundations and corporations.
