Ebay Founder Pledges $50-Million to Combat Global Slavery

The philanthropist and billionaire Ebay founder Pierre Omidyar will donate $50-million to combat human slavery around the world, Reuters reports.
Randy Newcomb, chief executive of Humanity United, a U.S.-based foundation established by Mr. Omidyar and his wife Pam Omidyar in 2005, announced the commitment at a conference in London. Humanity United played a central role in the creation of the Freedom Fund, supported by private donors and dedicated to raising and deploying at least $100-million to fight slavery.
