ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS
December 29, 2005
More than 2,200 environmental organizations, including some groups highly critical of the government’s environmental policies, have received grants from the Environmental Protection Agency over the last decade, reports the Associated Press. Organizations interviewed for the article said that the government grants for research, education, and technical projects do not affect their advocacy work, which is financed by other sources. But Roberta Baskin, of the Center for Public Integrity, a Washington watchdog group, says the grants at least raise the potential for a conflict of interest.
